2008 FLORIDA GATORS GYMNASTICS

The Florida Gators gymnastics team had a great 2007 season. On Sept.10th 2007 they received their SEC championship rings for 2007. They had the highest score ever in the SEC championship competition. And, the Lady Gators followed it up in 2008, by returning to the NCAA's "Super 6" and finishing 4th nationally!!

After winning the 2007 SEC gymnastics championship, Florida went on to finish #3 in the 2007 NCAA Gymnastics Championship.

How bout 2008? Well, right now Gators gymnastics is ranked #1 in the nation. So, maybe this is the year they win it all.

The Gator Gang dazzled the judges and impressed the audience with their outstanding performances throughout the entire 2007 season. Although the Florida Gators did not win every tournament, their results and statistics were very high. Ultimately ending with the SEC championship.

With the success that they achieved last year the team is more than ready for the season to begin in January where they will go against Illinois.

Although there are no camps scheduled they continue their routines, and practices. Keeping in training helps them stay in the best condition possible for their performances. Dance and agility are the key components and no injuries. The staff ensures that the team stays fit.

The Florida Gator Gymnastics gang, as they are also called, does different events on occasion. Recently the team voted Corey Hartung and Melanie Sinclair as the captains for the Florida Gators gymnastics team season 2008. They will continue to practice their routines on the vault, bars, which include high and low routines, the beam, and of course the floor routines with dance.

The girls hope the 2008 season will end exactly the way the 2007 season ended - with a victorious SEC championship. For now, the Florida Gators gymnastics team are enjoying their SEC championship rings for 2007 and all the bragging rights that go along with that.

On the academic level the Florida Gator gymnastics team didn't falter in this area either. Over all the team averaged a 3.36 grade point average and Ashley Kerr achieving a 4.0 grade point average.

Many other awards and honors were given to the team in 2007 for different events and occasions. They were placed four on 2007 all SEC teams. Coach Rhonda Faehn was also named coach of the year for the second consecutive season in 2007.

In September of 2007 Melanie Sinclair was also named SEC gymnast of the week. She was the third Florida Gator gymnast to claim this award during the 2007 season. All in all an awesome 2007 season.

And for them 2008 is going to be even better.
