2010-2011 AUBURN TIGERS WOMENS BASKETBALL PREVIEW

I have the Auburn Tigers at number 6 in the SEC and number 2 in the SEC West. They should be competitive in every game they play this season, and they could even give LSU a run for the SEC West title. I would not be surprised to see them make a run to the later stages of the SEC Tournament. I believe that this is the point where Auburn and the next few SEC teams will begin fighting for one of the final spots of the NCAA Tournament.

Auburn lost their second leading scorer from last season to graduation in Keke Carrier. Carrier was their Center and one of their defensive leaders last season and her presence in the paint will definitely be missed as the season wears on. Sophomore Pascale West will look to step into Carrier's shoes and produce some big plays.

Auburn was one of the few teams that did not lose any other players. They return four starters and their entire bench also returns, giving the Lady Tigers a reason to be excited about this season. They have the experience that is necessary for a team to make a run, even if it is not necessarily a trendy pick.

Among those returning is senior Alli Smalley, Auburn's leading scorer from one season ago. She looks to be the best returning player on the team, and she will be the player that everyone will look to to provide a spark in the offense. If she can step up, then Auburn should be in every game this season.

If Auburn can bring their group together, I believe that they will compete with LSU for the number 1 seed from the SEC West and that the Lady Tigers should steal one of the last spots available in the NCAA Tournament.
