I was a student at the University for the last 4 years Bear coached. On his coaches show on Sunday he told the funniest stories. He once told a story about flying from Kentucky home to Alabama and his grandson, Paul was with him. Paul told his grandfather that he felt like he was going to get sick. Bear told Paul to hold on until they were flying over the Tennessee campus and then he could throw up.
He always played to win and if the team played poorly, he said he was going to bring them home and have them practice after the game. He also always said that a tie was like kissing your sister. In those days if a game ended in a tie, it ended in a tie, no overtime.
