Best College Football Atmospheres

The best college football atmospheres rival any crowd in the world. Fiercely loyal in their support and in bellowing stadia, it can make for an intimidating place to visit as a road team.

The home and road splits are always important and the way each team handles playing in different territories can have an effect on the college football odds comparison market. In other words, if your chosen team doesn’t travel well, then their odds will be affected. The rowdy crowds can make a very real difference for players and bettors alike.

The sheer scale of college football is remarkable. It’s a phenomenon that is unique to America.

We’ve compiled five of the best college football atmospheres, featuring several stadia with capacities over 100,000.

Tiger Stadium

Awesome tailgating, a live mascot and brilliant food is just the start of the experience at LSU’s Tiger Stadium.

Once you’re in the arena, you’ll be joined by another 102,000 fans. It is earth-shakingly loud. A few hours of strained voices await, and the ringing in the ears may well continue into the next morning.

College football has plenty of loud stadia. None can quite match the decibel level at Tiger Stadium, though.

Bryant-Denny Stadium

Home to the Crimson Tide, a perennial force in the SEC, Bryant-Denny Stadium can hold just shy of 102,000 supporters.

There’s a chorus of ‘Roll Tide’ for any Alabama game at Bryant-Denny Stadium, which should be on the bucket list of college football fans across the globe. The Crimson Tide are a force to be reckoned with at their home venue, rarely losing a game over the last few seasons.

There’s a museum on site to learn about the history and development of Alabama football, and if you get to the ground early enough, you can join the waves of fans who crowd around as the players make their way into the stadium.

Doak Campbell Stadium

Pre-game traditions are big in college football. Fans get used to these rituals, and few get people as fired up as Chief Osceola planting a flaming spear on the 50-yard line.

This is an early taster of the day out at Doak Campbell Stadium. While the capacity is smaller than many other boisterous atmospheres, the 80,000-strong crowd still makes an almighty sound for the ever-competitive Florida State team.

Kyle Field

Four fighter jets provide a fly-by before kick-off of every Texas A&M game. With a strong cadet showing at the college, a swathe of military chants are heard throughout the proceedings.

The gameday experience actually begins the night before with a ‘yell’, featuring around 25,000 Aggies at midnight.

With the largest capacity in the SEC, Kyle Field’s atmosphere is among the best in college football.

Camp Randall Stadium

Not many stadia can literally make the ground shake. Camp Randall Stadium often achieves this with the ‘Jump Around’, which is when all 80,000 spectators jump on the stands between the third and fourth quarters.

Fans can also enjoy the ‘Badger Bash’ for a couple of hours before kick-off. This party is a good time to take in some live music and plenty of food.
