Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Michigan State Spartans
Alabama lost three games in the SEC this year. The only loss that wasn’t close was their game at South Carolina, which they lost by two touchdowns. Their defense was sturdy as expected and their offense was balanced and deep. Things just didn’t work out for the Tide this year.
Don’t make the mistake of assuming this group isn’t as talented as last year’s national championship team. They’re still loaded with talent. With Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson in the backfield and Julio Jones out wide, they can put points up with the best in college football.
The Spartans narrowly missed the Rose Bowl this year. They were consistent, yet unspectacular. They didn’t do anything that blew your mind, but they won all but one of their games. Quarterback Kirk Cousins completed close to 68% of his passes. Edwin Baker averaged 6.1 yards per carry for a total of 1,187 yards.
Greg McElroy and Cousins better beware when they put the ball in the air. Both teams possess a ball-hawking secondary. Alabama had 21 interceptions, while Michigan State had 17. As a whole, Michigan State boasts an impressive collection of players. They should at least pose a challenge to the Tide.
