Well i really can not understand how the 1952 Georgia Tech team was omitted from your list. GT rightfully claims the NC per 1 of the national news services of that time AND it was plain that national Big Ten media bias is why Michigan State was acclaimed champion.
MS finished 9-0--GT finished 12-0 in a much tougher conference (Tennessee had won the NC title the previous year when GT went 11-0-1). GT went on to defeat an undefeated Ole Miss in the Sugar Bowl 24-7. In fact from 1951-1953 GT enjoyed a 31 game UNDEFEATED streak fielding 3 of the best teams in NCAA history. The 1952 team featured six (6) selected All Americans, several of whom went on to NFL stardom. GT claims 4 NC teams in their sports history, with 1952 being the undisputed "best of the bunch".
I am obviously a GT fan and have been an avid supporter for over 60 yrs. I hated to see GT leave the SEC (after all GT was a founding member). If not for Vince Dooley"s negative vote and influence it the 70's GT would have re-entered their "birthright" and be in the SEC today. I HOPE this fact has not biased votes on THIS survey.
Georgia Tech EARNED and deserves this place in SEC history. In FACT i would STRONGLY argue that the 1952 team was the GREATEST college team in history, better than the before mentioned 1961 Alabama team ( but that is part of the FUN of college football--arguing over history).
Thanks for this forum.
